The Austin-based trio of Melissa Carper [upright bass], Beth Chrisman [fiddle], and Jenn Miori [guitar] applies their signature, stunning three-part harmonies to bluegrass, old-time, country and swing tunes of the standard and original variety, pushing and honoring American musical traditions at every step. Co-produced by steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (noted for her work with Asleep at the Wheel, Ryan Adams, and Bob Dylan) and Billy Lee Myers Jr. (sound engineer, Austin City Limits Television), Old-Fashioned Gal is the 2nd release from the Carper Family. The new album features 6 original Carper Family songs, tunes from their songwriter peers, along with covers of Neil Young, Larry Sparks, and Floyd Tillman. Old-Fashioned Gal finds the trio's sound expanded with the likes of guests Bill Kirchen, Brennen Leigh, Lisa Pankratz, and Cindy Cashdollar, covering territory from heartfelt country songs, sassy swing, and driving bluegrass. The Carper Family's 2011 debut release Back When was named Best Country Album by the 11th Annual Independent Music Awards.
